elloh is the work of me, el (short for ellen).
I graduated from rhode island school of design. Before art directing for a bit I worked for a spell as a book designer designing mini books like ‘Nancy Drew’s Guide to Life’. The highlight…I met Mr. Rogers. His watch had musical notes instead of numbers.
I also take pictures. I wanted to work for National Geographic when I was eight. They never called.
Now I just like to travel. Plane, train, automobile, subway, on foot, or most of the time by sketchbook and pencil.
I’m also a fan of humor, writing, books, libraries, coffee, tea (I always feel British), typography and hand lettering, Oatmeal box pinhole cameras, bright, saturated color including the black and white of old movies and comics, artists like Red Grooms, Al Hirschfeld, Edward Gorey, Alice Neel, Art Spiegelman, Beatrix Potter, Elizabeth Layton, William Blake, Maira Kalman, Van Gogh, Sorolla, Quino, Mary Blair… and finally making my ideas into something tangible that can be worn or displayed.
Thanks, gracias, danke, grazie, arigato, merci, high five!
